Scotland National Team Chants and National Anthem Lyrics

Flower of Scotland (National Anthem of Scotland)

O Flower of Scotland,
When will we see
Your like again,
That fought and died for,
Your wee bit Hill and Glen,
And stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

The Hills are bare now,
An' autumn leaves
lie thick and still,
O'er land that is lost now,
Which those so dearly held,
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward,
Tae think again.

The unofficial anthem "Flower of Scotland" creates an intensely defiant, spine-tingling atmosphere inside Hampden Park, completely driven by the Tartan Army. Because the song is traditionally accompanied by bagpipes—which have a distinctly raw, piercing drone—tens of thousands of fans form a roaring vocal unison that completely overpowers the stadium speakers. The absolute peak of stadium volume occurs right after the second line of each verse, where fans perform two rapid, thunderous claps in perfect lockstep to mimic a military drumbeat, followed immediately by the entire stadium bellowing out a massive, localized taunt: "And sent him homeward, tae think again!" This iconic line purposefully uses the Scots Germanic language word "tae" instead of the Standard English "to" to fiercely assert Scottish cultural identity and linguistic independence from England. A brilliant piece of history behind this anthem is that it was written in the mid-1960s by Roy Williamson of the folk group The Corries, using a custom-built instrument called a "combolins" to capture a traditional medieval sound. It was adopted organically by the rugby team in 1990 before the football squad made it their official pre-match ritual in 1997, replacing "Scotland the Brave."

Yes Sir, I Can Boogie

Yes sir, I can boogie,

But I need a certain song,

I can boogie, boogie woogie all night long

Here We Come

Here we come
Stottin' down the street
We get the funniest looks
From everyone we meet

Hey, hey, we're the T A
And people say we fanny around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down

We're just trying to be friendly
We like to sing and play
We're the famous Tartan Army
And we've got something to say

Hey, hey, we're the T A
And people say we fanny around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down
