A fascinating piece of history is that Het Wilhelmus is widely recognized as the oldest national anthem in the world, with its grand melody and lyrics dating back to the Dutch Revolt in the mid-16th century (around 1568–1572). Written from the first-person perspective of William of Orange, the song features a massive 15-verse acrostic structure where the first letters of each stanza spell out his name.
